The following is not legal advice, it's just the current way I sign up for homeschooling in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Each family might have different needs.
You should contact the school district to make sure the following information is still current and will work for you family.

The legal part of homeschooling... you send in a letter of intent along with a scope and sequence to:
Dr. Tracey A. Kinney, Ed. D. – Assistant Superintendent – Instruction
2800 House Avenue
Cheyenne, WY 82001
307-771-2188

Or you can hand deliver it I think if you want to start right away.

You can get the scope and sequence from whichever curriculum you choose. Or if you are using your own curriculum or using a combination of a variety of curriculum's and other resources, you can get a scope and sequence from:

Choose your grade level, print it out, and send it along with your letter of intent. Then find books and other things to teach each of the things on the list.

Below is a sample letter of intent. Some families also attach a list of the the books or the name of the curriculum they will be using. I’m not sure if you have to add those or not. Some years I have and some years I haven't and it didn't seem to make a difference as long as the scope and sequence was attached to the letter of intent.
